Documenting 2009 one picture a day! I will be shooting with a variety of camera's for this project including a Nikon D300, Nikon D70, Nikon S50 Point & Shoot, and possibly my iPhone. I'm looking forward to the challenge of shooting images everyday and pushing myself to become a better photographer... one day at a time!

J MAN STUDIOS > February 20, 2009 - Had a little fun with some creative exposure today. Didn't even look through the viewfinder for this one... just held the camera down as close to the ground as possible and let the auto-focus do the rest. I was really happy with the shallow depth-of-field created in front of the boots with having the camera just off the ground. The setting sun also created some nice color in the background. Let me know what you think!

Shot hand-held with Nikon D70 and Nikkor 50mm 1:1.8 lens at an aperture of f/1.8 with shutter speed of 1/250 sec. at ISO 800.
J MAN STUDIOS > February 19, 2009 - Snapped this photo of Big Boy outside of the Frisch's Restaurant in Florence, KY on my iPhone. Post-processed on the iPhone with the combination of Tilt-shift and Camera Bag iPhone apps.
J MAN STUDIOS > February 18, 2009 - This is a night capture of the Cathedral Basilica of The Assumption built in 1915 and located in Covington, KY. I somehow got away with getting a decent image without my tripod as I was on my way to a meeting when I decided to shoot the Cathedral. The 50mm was not the best lens to capture the entire building but good enought for a detail shot and at f/1.8 allowed me to get as much light into the camera to shoot hand-held. Note to self: next time shoot with a tripod and wide angle lens!

Shot hand-held with the Nikon D70 and Nikkor 50mm 1:1.8 lens at an aperture of f/1.8 and shutter speed of 1/25 sec at ISO 800.
J MAN STUDIOS > February 17, 2009 - Back home today after the weekend trip to TN and was way busy trying to catch up with work. I placed this sprouting bamboo plant into the pop-up studio and shot against a black backdrop.

Shot hand-held with the Nikon D70 and Nikkor 50mm 1:1.8 lens at f/1.8 and a shutter speed of 1/100 sec and ISO of 200.
J MAN STUDIOS > February 16, 2009 - Not a whole lot of time to shoot today as we spent most of the day in the car travelling back from Tennessee. I grabbed an overview shot of the indoor waterpark at Wilderness at the Smokies Resort before we jumped in the car to head home. Actually needed a panoramic to capture the entire park... over 60,000 square feet! This place is huge!

Shot hand-held with my Nikon D300 and Nikkor 18-200mm VR lens at f/8 and a shutter speed of 1/200 sec and ISO of 200.
J MAN STUDIOS > February 15, 2009 - I ventured off this morning with my daugher to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park to grab some nature photos. Since starting this project I've been waiting to get out of town and capture some different scenery. Even though it's still winter down in Tennessee and kind of gray it was refreshing to be out in nature with the camera. This photo was taken at the Chimney Tops picnic area.

Shot hand-help with my Nikon D300 and Nikkor 18-200mm VR lens at f/32 and a shutter speed of 1/4 sec and ISO of 100.
J MAN STUDIOS > February 14, 2009 - This weekend we took the kids down to Wilderness at the Smokies outside of Gatlinburg, TN. A family resort with an indoor waterpark and wave pool... the perfect escape from the winter dolldrums of Cincinnati. I captured this photo of my son while he was riding the surf on a boogie board. I loved the water splashing off the board and the great expression of determination and fun on his face!

Shot hand-held with my Nikon D70 and Nikkor 18-70mm lens at f/5.6 and a shutter speed of 1/60 sec and ISO of 200.
J MAN STUDIOS > February 12, 2009 - Well, this image was supposed to be my shot for yesterday, but we lost power due to a storm and I couldn't upload. I was so busy today I didn't get a chance to shoot and I kinda liked this shot of an old Blue Bird bus I grabbed yesterday outside the school my son was playing basketball at.

Shot hand-held with my Nikon D70 and Nikkor 50mm 1:1.8 lens at f/4.5 and a shutter speed of 1/250 sec and ISO of 400.
J MAN STUDIOS > February 11, 2009 - Came home tonight to a power outage, so not the photo I was going to post today! But with the trusty iPhone I'm at least able to keep my streak of not missing a day alive! This is one of the many candles that we needed to light this evening. The shadows were really cool coming off the iron sconce. Converted to B&W using CameraBag iPhone app. Looking forward to a weekend get-away and some new surroundings to shoot!
