Documenting 2009 one picture a day! I will be shooting with a variety of camera's for this project including a Nikon D300, Nikon D70, Nikon S50 Point & Shoot, and possibly my iPhone. I'm looking forward to the challenge of shooting images everyday and pushing myself to become a better photographer... one day at a time!

J MAN STUDIOS > February 10, 2009 - I wanted to get a little creative with my photo today as the weather was terrible so I decided to go for something abstract. This image was actually a detail shot of a Kosta Boda glass plate stood on end in my studio. I really liked how the glass looks like a deep blue sky and the red painted rim allows your mind to wonder.

Shot on tripod with my Nikon D300 and Nikkor 18-200mm VR lens at f/7.1 and a shutter speed of 1/20 sec and ISO of 100.
J MAN STUDIOS > February 9, 2009 - St. Xavier Church in downtown Cincinnati holds a special significance to me as it is the church that my wife & I were married. I really love the gothic architecture and detail of this church built in 1845.

Shot hand-held with my Nikon D70 and Nikkor 50mm 1:1.8 lens at an aperture of f/4, shutter speed of 1/2000 and ISO of 400. Added a little vignette blur in post to complete the image.
J MAN STUDIOS > February 8, 2009 - Went to TGI Friday's for dinner with the family tonight and ran into this statue of what looks to be one of the Blues Brothers. I thought it was pretty cool and something fun so I captured with my iPhone. Ran it through a couple of filters to produce the blurring and retro look. Captured, edited and uploaded right from the iPhone... I like that workflow! :D
J MAN STUDIOS > February 7, 2009 - I was reminded yesterday by a fellow photographer to remember to look for creative angles & perspectives. So I took that to mind today when creating this image. These rails were actually shot vertically oriented which wasn't a particularly interesting shot, but when rotated in post gave the shot a whole different vantage point which I liked.

Shot hand-held with my Nikon D70 and Nikkor 50mm 1:1.8 lens with an aperture of f/11 and shutter speed of 1/200 sec at ISO 200. Converted to B&W and adjusted exposure, contrast and levels in Aperture.
J MAN STUDIOS > February 6, 2009 - Something different today as I got to do some studio work shooting multiple pro basketball jerseys for a website project that I'm working on. This was my favorite jersey from the Lithuania team Zalgiris of the EuroLeague. Special thanks to Anne Kitzman Photography (http://annekitzmanphotography.com) for use of her studio, lights and assistance with the shoot.

Shot on tripod with the Nikon D300 and Nikkor 18-200mm VR lens at f/7.1 and a shutter speed of 1/250 sec and ISO of 100.
J MAN STUDIOS > February 5, 2009 - I found some inspiration today thanks to a blog post I read today from one of my twitter photographer friends, John Milleker (@johnmilleker). He talked about how when you find yourself with "nothing to shoot", to look hard around your world because sometimes what is ordinary to you might be very interesting to someone else. So I took that thought to mind while I was strolling around the yard and remebered this bird feeder hanging from one of our trees... not the most excited photo to me but maybe someone else out there might enjoy it!

Shot hand-held on my Nikon D70 and Nikkor 50mm 1:1.8 lens with an aperture of f/4 and shutter speed of 1/15 sec and ISO of 200.

J MAN STUDIOS > February 4, 2009 - Another snow storm hit the region again last night which left a fresh coating of powder on everything. I had my camera with me when I took my kids to school and grabbed a shot of snow that had dusted this landscape wheat grass. The morning light hitting the snow was what grabbed my eye and made for an interesting photo.

Shot hand-held with my Nikon D70 and Nikkor 50mm 1.8 lens with an aperture of f/1.8 and shutter speed of 1/1250 sec and an ISO of 200.
J MAN STUDIOS > February 3, 2009 - Another snow filled day today so I had to take the shoot indoors. I decided to try my hand at a high-ISO shot to increase the grainyness of the image. My dog Tyler was chilling on the floor and made an easy subject.

Shot hand-held with my Nikon D70 and Nikkor 50mm 1:1.8 lens at f/2.8 with a shutter speed of 1/20 sec and ISO of 1250. Some minor post-processing was applied to increase edge sharpness, saturation & levels.
J MAN STUDIOS > February 2, 2009 - After attending this mornings Social Media Breakfast in downtown Cincinnati, I was heading home when I realized that I had some extra time to take a photo. I was near the Roebling Suspension Bridge and headed over to the Kentucky side of the river to capture some of the Cincinnati skyline. I even managed to grab the shot while there were no cars on the bridge - hard to imagine since the photo was taken around Noon. Just goes to show you that Cincinnati's not the most bustling city.

Shot hand-held with my Nikon D70 and Nikkor 50mm 1:1.8 lens at f/11 and a shutter speed of 1/500 sec and ISO of 200.
